“I try to ride along with the customer, get as much info as I can and duplicate the issue if possible,” says Service Tech Paul Thomas. “Nobody likes to come back twice. No matter what the problem is, I have the training and experience to fix it right the first time.”

Like many of his fellow Athens service techs, Paul is both a Chrysler Master Tech and an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Tech. This intensive training provides him with the knowledge to diagnose and repair even the most difficult repair issues of any and all vehicle brands.

“Paul has done so much training, there’s nothing else he can do,” says Athens Service Manager Mike Deason. “He’s done absolutely every Chrysler Technical has to offer – which is pretty commendable.”

“We have a shop full of the same kind of guys,” acknowledges Paul. “That’s why the service we provide at Athens is way above and beyond what the competition has to offer.”

Perhaps that’s why so many customers trust the Athens service team with their non Chryslers as well.

“I care about the customer and treat each car like it’s my own – and oftentimes, even better,” Paul says.

Away from the dealership, the husband to wife Tammy and father of three – Kristen, Victoria and Chris – is an avid outdoorsman who aspires to master yet another domain. “I’m working on making great BBQ,” Paul admits. “But I’m certainly not there yet!”

We shocked both fans and detractors this year by unveiling a total of six new or significantly revised models in rapid-fire. While the public went absolutely wild for vehicles like the all-new 2011 Dodge Durango and 2011 Charger, we poured no less of ourselves into the heavily altered offerings like the 2011 Journey and Grand Caravan along with our fun to drive Avenger. Whereas most manufacturers are content to slap a new front fascia on a vehicle for their annual updates, we went whole hog, leaving no stone unturned. Drivetrain, suspension, interior and exterior alterations were all part of the recipe, and we spent plenty of hard-working hours to make sure everything turned out just right. When all of the knots were tied, we took a deep breath and handed our new fleet over to the ever-skeptical eyes of the automotive press to find out exactly what’d they make of our efforts. Here is just a sprinkling of the great reviews we’ve received.

What’d they find? When it came to the 2011 Avenger, reviewers praised both the all-new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 under the hood as well as our handsome new interior. The crew at TheCarConnection.com even went so far as to say that “the new dash looks great, with convincing quantum leaps in style and materials.” We’re glad you noticed.

Some of the biggest news to roll out of our offices comes courtesy of the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392. This icon of drag racers and street cruisers now has more muscle and less fat with its new 470 horsepower 392 HEMI® that’ll even go further on a tank of gas than last year’s model courtesy of our ultra trick fuel savings technology. All the intelligent brawn won over the crowd at Car and Driver. After spilling a little ink on just how much fun it is to fling this big boy around a race track, they said, “Whether or not the displacement of the rejuvenated engine is a coincidence, the improvements to it and the car it powers were not only intentional, but very effective.”

Speaking of muscle, the 2011 Charger found favor with more than a few writers. Autoblog.com praised our meaty sedan for its slightly retro design cues borrowed from the hallowed halls of the late 1960s “Coke Bottle” design, and Road & Track gushed a bit about the sharp new interior inside the car. “Gone is that flat plastic, boring dash and center console. In its place: an all-new design that doesn’t skimp on softness or style.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

The 2011 Durango received no less love from the crew that knows cars and trucks best. Motor Trend said that “despite being larger, heavier and offering the same V-8 engine with a modest power increase, the new Durango hits 60 mph 0.7 seconds faster than the old model, pulls an additional .08 g on the skidpad and gets slightly better fuel economy all the while.” Even The Truth About Cars shared a little love for the attention to detail that we worked into the vehicle’s interior.

Now what about the 2011 Grand Caravan? We know that minivan buyers spend more time in their vehicle than just about anyone else, so we packed our family cruiser with as much usability as possible. TheCarConnection.com said that “elsewhere inside, the Grand Caravan sticks with the most functionally fleshed-out minivan on the market.” With our stow-and-go seating, spots for seven occupants total and a load of clever storage bins, the Grand Caravan is built for tackling family commutes with one hand tied behind its back.

While there were plenty of models that garnered great reviews from our media introduction, few found the kind of favor that the 2011 Journey enjoyed. Autoblog.com gushed on the new leather seating and dash design, saying “The combined effect is one very clean, very well put-together dash – a colossal improvement on what was one of the most haphazard and discount instrument panels in the industry.” We don’t know whether to blush or cry on that one, but we’ll take our compliments where we can get them.

We could go on and on about the numerous reviews and the positive responses from our friends in the media. However, our work is never done and there’s always room for improvement in any new car. We’re awfully proud of the work we’ve done with our new models. We poured nearly everything we have had into these vehicles, and reading the positive comments on our handiwork, we can’t help but feel that Dodge is moving toward a future that can’t be beat. Chrysler Hugging Lower Designs for Future Vehicles

According to Ralph Gilles, senior VP for design of Chrysler Group, the carmaker was riding a bit high the past few years. After looking their vehicles side by side with the competitors, the other car manufacturers are producing cars rolling closer to the ground. And it seems, Chrysler will be producing lower vehicles in the near futures to improve the handling, fuel economy, and overall look.

Chrysler will have the lower profiles of their vehicles as the hallmark of their future production.

Gilles makes the 2011 Dodge Durango as an example which gets a lower fascia compared to its older versions and getting a different approach compared to the Grand Cherokee. He also adds that the vehicle will be a more fuel efficient. The Durango RT will also come an inche lower compared to the Express to improve the handling.

The design executive of Chrysler also added that they may need new designers to help complete the work on 15 new vehicles. These new units will use platforms by their partner Fiat and are scheduled to roll out from the factories by 2012 through 2014.

The car manufacturer admits that they are looking for new designers but adds that they are also very picky when hiring new members of the design team. Aside from being a good artist, they are also looking for someone who can lead, who has some spirit, and someone who will fit in their company’s culture.

We can hardly wait for the redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 to strut across the stage at the 2011 New York Auto Show. Thankfully, we can get our muscle truck fill courtesy of some spy shots showing our favorite non-trail rated Jeep taking in some desert sun.

This next-generation Grand Cherokee SRT8 is rumored to pack a 6.4-liter Hemi engine under the hood, which should be good for around 470 horsepower. Rather disappointingly, the rumormill has the automatic transmission earmarked as only having five ratios, but it's at least said to be the first SRT-branded product with paddle-shifters. What's more, the brake pedal should handily haul in the twisting speedo needle thanks to a set of 14-inch Brembos. [Read More and See More Photos]

Earlier this month, National Geographic Channel kicked off its seven-stop Ultimate Factories Tour -- with two of its stops taking a look at Dodge vehicles.

Chicago Auto Show: Dodge is 'Never Neutral'

Chrysler Group's Dodge Brand used the Chicago Auto Show to kick off its Never Neutral campaign -- and back up that campaign with R/T versions of its entire lineup, including two versions of the Charger SRT8 and Challenger R/T Classic and SRT8® 392 in a limited edition Green with Envy exterior color. Dodge also unveiled the all-new 2011 Dodge Durango Heat.

"We can't make hollow promises," said Dodge CEO/President Ralph Gilles. "We have to back them up."

During his opening remarks, Gilles talked of the "phenomenal energy" that comes from the more than 300 LX and other brand-related clubs across the United States when members of all ages get together and share their love of cars.

The Never Neutral campaign, as Gilles noted, is designed to meet the expectations from all Dodge enthusiasts and customers with vehicles that live up to lines like:

Everyone is a car person -- some -- just don't know it
Factory-made shouldn't feel mass-produced
Cars can be fuel efficient without being neutered
Car chases make movies better

Here's a rundown on the highlights of the Dodge R/T lineup:

2012 Dodge Charger SRT8: Available later this year, Gilles said the new Charger SRT8 is "not only one of the coolest cars in the industry but the most technologically advanced Dodge ever."

Uconnect-integrated system that only not only includes standard navigation and other features but also performance data of the vehicle.
900-watt, 19-speaker Harman Kardon speaker system
6.4-liter HEMI® V-8 engine that offers an estimated 465HP and 465 lb.-ft. of torque for power across a significantly wider rpm range. While the Charger has 5HP fewer than the 392, it has 80-90 pounds of more torque so that the power "is there, the minute you touch the pedal," Gilles said.
Fuel efficiency improvement of 15% for the city, and 25% for highway, compared to the 2010 6.1-liter HEMI engine.

2011 Dodge Durango R/T: In previwing the new Durango R/T, Gilles included a video clip of the designers and the engineers involved in the project. One called it the "ultimate performance, seven-passenger SUV."

A unique fascia with fog lamps, a body-color grille surround with black texture and xenon high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps.
5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine with fuel-saver mode and variable-valve timing. Delivers 360HP (268 kW) and 390 lb.-ft. of torque (520 N•m) at 4,250 rpm.
Best-in-class 7,400 lb. towing capability.

2011 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T -- i.e., the man van. Gilles said the Grand Caravan R/T, with a black interior designed as a man cave, has "everything so you can do anything."

New 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine is mated to a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transaxle and delivers best-in-class horsepower: 283HP compared with 197HP in the previous 3.8-liter V-6 engine; and more torque at 260 lb.-ft. versus 230 lb.-ft. without sacrificing fuel economy.
All-black interior features exclusive perforated black leather seats with red stitching, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob and a premium sound system with nine-speakers, a subwoofer and 506-watt amplifier.

February Employee of the Month

February's Employee of the Month is Lead Title Clerk, Susan Williams. As the Lead Title Clerk, Susan prepares all the necessary paperwork to process all tags and titles. She is also our Customer Care Coordinator. This position includes assuring that any and all concerns of our customers are properly taken care of. She is the go-to person if there is a situation that needs to be resolved. Susan also assists in all of the office duties when needed. She is a very valuable asset to our company and does a wonderful job for Athens Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM.

Susan moved to Athens in 1982 from Florida and attended both Clarke Central and UGA. She started working in the automotive industry in 2000 as a Title Clerk and Administrative assistant. She now has 9 total years of experience in this industry including her work here at Athens Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM, which she started in August, 2010. She is also a single mom to her 2 year-old daughter, Sabrina. When asked about her reaction to being named Employee of the Month, she said " I love this job! The people are great and it's wonderful to know you are appreciated for a job well done. Thank you!".

10 Steps for the First Time Car Buyer

Buying a new vehicle is an exciting moment in life. It should be celebrated instead of dreaded. Many people do not like purchasing a car because of several factors, such as, bad experiences in the past, novice salespeople that use pressure tactics, and not enough information being provided. We are ready to bring the fun back to purchasing a car. No longer will you feel pressured, rushed, or uncomfortable with the buying process. Follow these steps to save yourself time, money, and be happy with your new vehicle.

Purchasing a Car: The Steps

Step 1: Why do I want to buy a car? What need or desire are you trying to overcome? Ask yourself all of the preliminary questions before beginning to look for a vehicle. How will you pay for it, and how much can you afford?

Step 2: What features do I want in the vehicle? Select a type of vehicle to purchase. There are many options available some for free, and some for an additional cost.

Step 3: Research online because it is the best tool of the informed consumer. Now that you know what type of vehicle you would like, and what features you enjoy, you can do product comparisons and see what the market value is for similar automobiles in that class.

Step 4: Initial dealership visit. Get the feel for the environment and the type of service the dealership is providing. How quickly are you greeted? What questions are they asking you? Are they interested in getting you the vehicle that meets your needs?
- Use this visit to gather the information you need to make an intelligent buying decision. Decide whether or not you want to spend your money at this dealership or with someone else. If you are treated professionally, they respect your time, and are willing to value your business, then you should purchase from that dealership.
Step 5: Research online. Now you are looking for reviews of the dealership itself and not the vehicle. The best type of business transaction is one where both parties benefit. Creating a long lasting business partnership is valuable to both you and the seller.
- Also, if you have a vehicle to trade in have the estimated values from Kelly Blue Book, NADA, and Kelly Black Book if possible. These resources provide an approximate market value for your trade. As an informed customer you should have a realistic amount you would like for the trade. The salesperson should provide you with the current market value, as well as what the dealership feels your vehicle is worth.
Step 6: Test drive. This should be done at least once if not multiple times. Make sure that you enjoy the drive and have all of your questions answered.

Step 7: Sit down to talk numbers. Be prepared with as much information as you can. Understand that you do not want this to be a long drawn out process and are serious about purchasing the vehicle. If you have followed the previous steps in this article then you will already know the value of the vehicle before sitting down. At this point you should know the MSRP and what the total amount the dealership is asking for after installed accessories. Costs typically include but are not limited to a destination fee, an administrative fee, dealer installed accessories, and processing fee.
- If you are negotiating a vehicle trade, understand that the dealership incurs many costs when taking in trades such as: Cleaning / Reconditioning, Advertising, and Vehicle Demand.
  - If the demand for your vehicle is low, then do not expect to get very much for your trade.
  - Several things affect the value of your trade.

Step 8: Finalize the numbers. If the Salesperson or Sales Manager is not willing to negotiate price see if there are other perks they offer. Will they provide you with any free oil changes? Do they have a complimentary car wash whenever you stop by? DO NOT attempt to get everything in the store for free! Remember that the dealership is in business to make money and that the sales person works on commission. Understand the value of your trade, and the value of new vehicle. Now come to an agreeable amount including perks. If they are a professional dealership they will not try to swindle you, and by that same token, you should be a professional customer and do not try to swindle the dealership.

Step 9: Purchase the vehicle. This will typically occur in the Finance Department even if you are not financing the new vehicle. By this point you are excited about your new purchase and cannot wait to show it off!

Step 10: Follow up. What perks did the dealership offer? Did they contact you within a week to make sure that you are happy? Are they making good on the things they promised you?

Overall the best advice is to be as informed as possible when making any
purchase. Know how much you are willing to spend and be sure that you are
comfortable with the dealership. We pride ourselves on being focused on our
customers and value your business.

December’s Employee of the Month is Service Writer, Mr. Bob Woitas. Bob is the man responsible for writing repair orders, communicating them to the mechanics and estimating the final cost to the customers. He acts as an informative middleman between the consumers and technicians, utilizing working knowledge of the industry while engaging in an active role in the automotive trade.

“I love working with people and customers,” Bob says.

Bob hails from Long Island, New York. He later moved down south and attended Hiwassee College in Tennessee, studying Forestry. Bob enjoys spending time with his wife Patricia and their son Kevin. Bob likes traveling and takes pleasure in fishing with his spare time.

Bob has been with us since the Athens store opened in 2009 and has been with Chrysler for 20 years. We are VERY pleased to have Bob as part of our Athens Dodge Chrysler Jeep team.

Back when they were introduced, the Chrysler 300 and 300c were immediately seen by the entire automotive world as the new leaders in luxury vehicle style and desirability so, it’s no surprise that the introduction of the redesigned 2011 Chrysler 300 has created the same kind of buzz.

There was a look and feeling about the 300 that just screamed SOLID. I remember the first time my wife saw one she said, “That new Chrysler looks like a tank… but the most elegant tank I have ever seen… when can I drive one”. I expect the same kind of reaction to the new 2011 Chrysler 300. It stands alone! There is just no match for this vehicle in any other domestic or import line-up anywhere.

New Chrysler badges kick the revisions off, the winged emblem being lengthened and streamlined compared to the current item. The appearance is decidedly upscale. The new grill has been referred to by some writers as the Chrysler corporate grill however, in my opinion, it sets off the new 300 in a way that is anything but corporate. It adds a more streamlined look to the front end that will undoubtedly be well received.

New projector-beam headlights are reshaped and add LED lighting strips. The rectangular front air intakes are chrome-trimmed and house new circular fog lights. Even the hood is revamped, with a bold middle bulge and a more rounded look.

All new cathedral-style taillights sit out back, with extensive chrome trim. The taillight design is the vehicle’s most obvious change, being both reshaped and accented with chrome trim running down the middle and around the perimeter. Chrome trim also bridges both taillights, running from their bases across the top of the restyled rear bumper and twin exhaust tips. The trunk lid incorporates a new subtly curved lip adding an element of sport.

The 2011 Chrysler 300 will be getting the new Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine, but which horsepower variant hasn’t been released yet. Additionally, I assume the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 will remain optional, but what changes it may receive are yet to be released.
A whole new instrument cluster is seen for the first time, with heavy blue backlighting and a techy but elegant allure.

As you can tell by now, many of the details have yet to be released but one thing is for sure… this one will be flying off the showroom floor as soon as it arrives. Keep your eye open for the new cornerstone of the Chrysler line-up, it will be a vehicle like no other.

Muscle Car enthusiasts rejoice! The new 2011 Dodge Challenger has been released! A true vehicle for everyone with head-turning style and 21st century technology.

First, for those interested in pure power, the 2011 Challenger will get a 6.4L Hemi boasting around 500bhp and be more fuel efficient than the 6.1L unit currently found in the 2010 Dodge Challenger. More power with more fuel economy… that’s a win-win for the acceleration junkies.

The long-hood, short-deck shape, wide grille, graceful roofline, and full-width tail lamps will continue to honor the 1970 Challenger two-door coupe. Challenger is significantly larger than the Mustang and Camaro competitors and the payoff is the softest ride, widest cockpit, and roomiest rear seat in the class. In fact, Challenger is the only one of the three that has seating positions for five passengers instead of four. This will give Challenger a broader appeal for the family man that still wants to drive something cool.

The 2011 Challenger will retain its rear-wheel-drive layout but the hot new 3.6-liter dubbed the “Pentastar” V-6 will be a welcome addition to powertrain options. Debuting in the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it’s an advanced dual-overhead cam design with variable valve timing and is initially rated at 280 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Head-protecting curtain side airbags for both seating rows will be standard. Same for a manual tilt/telescope steering wheel, power driver’s seat, and a split rear seat back that folds to create a cargo-passage from the trunk. The 2011 Challenger’s five-speed automatic transmission will again feature a separate gate for manual-type gear changes, while the six-speed manual’s lever will again be topped with a 1970s-style pistol-grip handle.

Other returning options will include a power sunroof, remote engine start for automatic-transmission models, and xenon headlamps and a functional hood scoop for R/T models. SRT8 models come with xenons, function hood scoops, leather upholstery, special sport bucket front seats, and dashboard readouts that track 0-60-mph acceleration times, lateral G-forces, and other lead-foot data. Leather upholstery will return as an option on SE and R/T models, accompanied by heated front seats and mirrors. Also available again will be a voice-activated navigation system with real-time traffic information; Chrysler’s Uconnect multimedia system that includes USB iPod interface and steering-wheel audio controls; and sound systems that range to a 368-watt setup with seven Boston Acoustic speakers.

The 2011 Dodge Challenger will be hitting the showroom floors quickly and hitting the streets even faster. It’s sure to take you back to the future in a heartbeat.

If wheel slippage occurs, the integrated traction control system helps transfer torque to those wheels with traction. Neutral mode permits flat towing without the need to disconnect linkages. The 2011 Liberty’s Antilock brakes are equipped with electronic sensors that prevent wheel lockup, offering improved steering control under extreme braking or slippery conditions. Traction control uses sensors to determine how fast each wheel is turning. If the sensors indicate a certain wheel slipping during acceleration, the system applies braking power to that wheel to help it regain traction.

The Liberty is equipped with a transmission skid plate, fuel tank skid plate, transfer case skid plate and front suspension skid plate designed for maximum protection when the undercarriage is exposed to rocks or other debris encountered in off-road conditions.

You’ll find the interior of the 2011 Liberty to be technologically advanced as well as cargo friendly. Power heated exterior mirrors w/manual fold-away and power windows with driver's one-touch-down feature are plus for any vehicle. “Celeste is a very hard worker, she is always dedicated to completing her work correctly, always willing to help others and takes on multiple tasks whenever needed,” says Office Manager Emily Fenn.

Celeste hails from Jefferson, Georgia. Celeste is a “local” by all accounts and went to Jackson County Comprehensive High School just 18 miles north of here. She enjoys spending her time with her son Braden, being outdoors, and cheering for “Uga” and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Celeste is dependable, very good with customers and completes her work to the best of her ability. She has been with us since October of 2009. We are VERY pleased to have Celeste as part of our Athens Dodge Chrysler Jeep team.

The Jeep Wrangler has always had a legendary following that is often passed down from father to son. Your dad should be pleasantly surprised that the 2011 Wrangler is even more capable than those driven by loyal followers in the past and yet the new interior has an eye for comfort, technology and style that is something new for this favorite work hard/play hard vehicle.

Dad will appreciate that the classic Wrangler look remains the same but the capabilities and feature just keep getting better. The best in off-road readiness is offered in the 2011 Rubicon models with features like extra-low gearing, heavy-duty axles, and electronically locking front and rear differentials. The Dodge Brand continues Chrysler Group's vehicle momentum with the new 2011 Dodge Journey – designed to be a mid-size crossover with “right sized” proportions for today's family that wants it all

For 2011, Dodge takes what was good and makes it better. The Dodge Journey receives a major overhaul with a completely redesigned and retuned suspension, a new V-6 engine and a new interior with room from up to five- to seven-passenger seating.

And that's not all.

Journey also features the Chrysler Group's new PowerNet electrical architecture: touch-screen command center, Uconnect Touch. The Uconnect Touch combines everything from navigation to dual-zone climate controls to the ability to check fuel prices.

Chrysler Group engineers improved routine ride handling in the 2011 Dodge Journey by re-engineering the suspension geometry, adding new, improved premium tires and redesigning the steering for a more precise and coordinated response.

With 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, the 2011 Dodge Journey is equipped with the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that delivers a 20 percent boost in power compared with the V-6 engine it replaces.

Drivers also will be treated to a smooth, quiet ride. Engineers reduced noise, vibration and harshness by installing new, premium sound-deadening treatments and insulation throughout the vehicle.

Most rewarding surprise

But perhaps the most rewarding surprise is Journey's new interior. A beautifully crafted one-piece instrument panel sets the tone. A new, larger cluster with standard electronic vehicle information center (EVIC) is positioned in the center of the new gauges. It's a full-color display backlit in Dodge red lights, giving it a soft glow unlike any in the segment.

New, integrated center stack bezels are less angular and more sculpted, and designers softened the radius to make more room for the driver's knees. The heating and cooling outlets are also redesigned to make them better looking and better functioning.

The center console gets a lot of extra cushion on the tilt-and-slide armrest. Lift the lid, and there's a larger center storage bin with a 12-volt outlet and USB port where owners can hook up their MP3/iPod charging connections and hide them away.

Journey also is loaded with an abundance of safety and security features, including:

standard advanced multi-stage front passenger air bags,
active head restraints,
electronic stability control (ESC) with all-speed traction control,
electronic roll mitigation and brake assist,
new driver-side knee blocker air bag,
supplemental side-curtain air bags covering all three rows,
supplemental front-seat-mounted side air bags,
four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes,
LATCH child seat anchor system, and
trailer sway control.

The Dodge Journey is built at Chrysler Group LLC's Toluca Assembly Plant in Toluca, Mexico. It will arrive in U.S. dealerships during fourth quarter of 2010.

The partnership includes an in-game integration into both the epic single player storyline of Call of Duty: Black Ops and the title’s much anticipated multiplayer experience.

In addition to being part of the game, Jeep Brand is selling a limited-edition 2011 Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: Black Ops Edition (right). The Jeep Wrangler Black Ops Edition exterior is black and features Call of Duty: Black Ops graphics on the roof and front quarter panels. It also features taillamp guards and a fuel-filler door from Mopar®. Inspired by Call of Duty: Black Ops, the new limited-edition Wrangler delivers legendary Jeep capability, aggressive 32-inch off-road tires, live axles with locking differentials in the front and rear, and a two-speed transfer case.

The car of tomorrow Challenger in the Nationwide Series is one sharp car. It looks more like the real car that we sell than anything has in a long
time. On the horsepower side of things, Dodge will be releasing a 392 hemi next year that not only will get better fuel mileage, but also around 495 horsepower. So to think that the SRT8 vehicles we have now will come with approximately 50 more horsepower but get better fuel mileage next year is great. With all of this being done in Detroit, maybe Penske can turn it up a notch next year and put 2 cars in the
chase.

Employee of the Month Rachel Jester

Our September Employee of the Month is Rachel Jester. Hailing from Trussville, Alabama, Rachel began her career with us in 2005 when she assumed accounting and title duties at our former location in Monroe Georgia, where she soon became a valuable fixture in the department. She then made the move with us to Athens, Georgia where she took over responsibility for all accounts receivable and accounts payable and helps us keep on-track in those departments.

“She’s the kind of team player that every Manager wants” says Emily Fenn, Athens DCJ Accounting Manager, “whether it’s running down a tough set of numbers or pitching in to pick up an incoming phone call when our switchboard’s swamped, Rachel, just gets it done. Everybody loves her!”

Rachel lives with her husband, Stephen in Walnut Grove, Georgia. She is an avid photographer, and spends as much time outdoors as possible, so anytime there’s a break in the work schedule she’s off to the mountains or the beach.

We are pleased to have her as part of the Athens Dodge Chrysler Jeep Team.

Labor Day weekend was a blast, took a few employees with me to the race and for Emily it was her first race in person. It is always fun to watch first timers at the track. If you have never been to a live event it is one of the most amazing things that you will ever witness. Not just the racing and the noise, but the time that you spend with other people. From people that you know, to complete strangers it is an event that is worth going to. The race had a very exciting end especially when Kasey Kahne and Ryan Newman were playing bumper cars on a couple of laps.
Tony Stewart held off the rest of the pack for the win. Only one dodge driver will be in the chase, that being Kurt Busch. If you are going to have one have a past champion. And considering how he has ran the last few races, dodge has a good shot at the championship. A few nascar notes, Walmart will not be sponsoring Jeff Gordon, and Penske looks like it will be losing the Mobile 1 sponsorship. Have no clue what Penske is going to do next year, but the way Justin Allgaier is driving, I would put him in the number 77 dodge. Brad Keslowski is headed to winning the Nationwide series championship. He is 331 points ahead of Carl Edwards and continues to run strong in that series. By the way if you have not seen the Challenger Nationwide series car, it is pretty awesome looking.
